F-WORD - DEATH VALLEY + ESHERICKS, ID & BREAKING NEWS (DBR010)

F-Word - Death Valley - DBR010Back to 90s, when the F-Word project had just begun it’s story, it was easy to feel the influence of hardcore and jungle sound, and the first beats of electronic music in it. Later, the new wave of Breakbeat inspired the project to do some kind of serious experiments. Going back to roots, F-Word gains a great interest in funk, soul, hip-hop and DJ-culture. In 2005 he performed his first DJ-set and gets the inspiration from breaks music. After that, he finally steps into the breaks-music path.

The year 2007 was a very important year for the project and it was full of significant events such as "Red Devil DJ Battle" and release of the first single by F-Word project, which became popular overnight in many foreign web stores.

At the moment F-Word is producing new tracks and remixes, performing regular dj-sets, and has five singles, many of them are in top-charts of best-selling releases in popular web-stores. F-Word tracks are being ragged currently, on radio-stations all over the world. And this is just the beginning...

His next track, Signed up by our bad Dusted Breaks selves, is a nu-skool number with spacey vibes and a warm bass, plus a very familiar vocal sample! This has seen support from all over the globe but more notably from Westway and Up:Start producer d*Funk on his tour of Oz.

ESHERICKS Is very hot property right now and everything he seems to touch turns to Breakbeat gold! So imagine our delight when the Japanese supremo agreed to remix ‘Death Valley’ for us! And he didn’t disappoint!
The use of the 303 is somewhat frowned upon these days and with a usually quite dated sound, compared to what is around now, I tend to understand why! Eshericks though, absolutely nails it!! And with it’s Sick bassline, engagingly un-cliched melodies which interplay nicely, ravetastic samples and full-bore acid madness, This track has won full support from some of the biggest DJ’s in the world, Including The mighty CRYSTAL METHOD and has literally been ragged from one end of the globe to another and smashed each and every dance floor that it has graced!!

ID needs little introduction and since his move over to all things Dubstep, Has won over a whole new set of fans! This little piece of Dubbed up phatness, that the Mancunian did for Dusted Breaks, Includes the trademark ID wobble and some seriously interesting drum patterns to make the whole tune that little bit more atmospheric and interesting, Compared to the usual Dubstep/Grime sound.

BREAKING NEWS are no strangers to Dusted Breaks and on the back of their ‘Peoples’ release, The Russian boys decided that they’d give this tune a good going over! We honestly thought that up against Eshericks & I.D they may struggle, but not a chance!! Since we signed ‘Peoples’ back in January, These guys have had some wicked opportunities to do remixes on other labels and recently won the Groove Diggerz remix competition for Breakin Even. So it’s safe to say that this lot are on the up and we are very happy with their electro influenced booty style dancefloor smasher!

Written by johnselekta

Mobius - The Lab - DBR009We bring you the second Dusted Breaks installment from the Southampton duo MOBIUS, and this time the dark and twisted nature of the original has a gut bustin bass line, that has smashed the dancefloors across the world since it's promo release a few weeks ago!

Not content with just an amazing original track though, We bring you what the critics say is these guys finest work to date and after first hearing The BEN & LEX remix, Who am i to disagree!

It takes heavy dub influences, but keeps it very much Breaks, and is packed full of wobbly goodness!! This tune has also smashed many a dancefloor to pieces in it's short, but very sweet promo existence! This was the highlight of Ben & Lex's Glade set and was added to Jay Cunnings "Promo's of the week" after being played on his show. It has also had club plays from the likes of Mr No Hands,Duane Barry & Mr Cunning himself, to name but a few!

Anyway, Check it out and judge for yourself!

DBR008 - Mobius - Tools of the TradeMOBIUS – TOOLS OF THE TRADE & LO-DEFINITION REMIX– DBR008

MOBIUS formed in January 2007, and are Jon Moakes and Ali Rutt, both from Southampton, UK.

The pair met in the year 2000 whilst running nights and DJing on the Southampton Clubscene, a lasting friendship was quickly formed due to their shared love of the dance music scene in it’s many forms. Ali ran and DJ’ed at the successful Debauchery night in Southampton from 2000-2002 (Voted Ministry club of the south in 2001), and Jon ran a weekly Drum & Bass night – Toast, with the pair also collaborating for the Mixmag Recommended Offshore Boat Parties, fusing many dance styles under one roof. Their DJing work has taken them to many of the South’s top venues.

With these influences in place, plus a long history of DJing stretching back to early Rave & Jungle (Jon), and House & Techno (Ali), the scene was set for them to take this mishmash of styles into the studio. The first track to be completed under the Mobius name is ‘Thugs’, taking influences from Hip Hop, Miami House, Drum & Bass and the contemporary Breaks scene, and adding a ‘clean but grimy’ ethic to their sound. This is due out soon on Ape Music. They have also recently finished ‘Serious Ting’ which is receiving plays from many DJ's on the scene.

Ali has been heavily involved in the Breaks scene for a number of years, hosting a show on NuSkoolBreaks.co.uk radio, the weekly ‘Mobius Trip’.

Jon is concentrating on the studio projects at present, whilst Ali still DJ's regularly and is always on the lookout for new dancefloors to play to. This vastly experienced DJ is well known for his intelligently constructed and technically excellent sets, knowing exactly what’s needed to get the floor shaking!
These guys have now decided to team up with our Portsmouth based label and release the first of 2 tracks, signed up earlier in the year and with the help of some excellent remix work, have made this release a very exciting prospect! The first release being ‘Tools Of The Trade’ and the remix is coming in the shape of relatively old breaks head on new shoulders....LO-DEFINITION

On moving to Brighton around 2002 and regularly attending the world famous Supercharged on regular occasions, he was introduced to the world of production by Jamie Black, a local producer and founder member of the Slacker's Convention. Inspired by breakbeat's fresh sound, but still with a love of house music and DnB, he went on to a co-found the Breakspoll nominated dance radio station "Brap.FM" with Shaun "Moif" Murphy.

Lo-Definition left the station to concentrate on his music production 18 months later and subsequently formed and co-wrote releases for Loop deVille which featured in the Beatport breaks charts at number 7, and number 12 respectively.

Lo Def left Loop deVille in early 2009 to focus on solo projects and he now spends most of his time in the studio working on both solo and collaborative releases, drinking red bull, whinging about tinnitus, losing money at poker and downloading as much porn as his internet provider will allow him!
The Original track is quite a dark and slightly twisted out and out Breakbeat track and the Mobius boys keep that signature groove pumpin nicely throughout!
The remix is the very first release from Lo-Def and is an electro break’s crossover with some seriously slick production and bassline that has been quoted by one DJ as being “sick” In a good way! This has so far received support from Hexadecimal and Kickflip.

The track is available to listen and purchase here:

Breakzhead "Goin On" Dusted Breaks Records (DBR007) OUT NOW
Written by johnselekta
Tuesday, 28 July 2009

DBR007-Breakzhead-Going onIn the world of electronic music Vyacheslav Kogan (Russia, Vladivostok) is known as BreakZhead. His career as a musician started in 2003
The first official release appeared in 2006 the compilation "Introducing. BreakZhead" was released by the US-based label Nulogic Records, it included tracks "In Line" and "My Way" with strong trance motives.

Works of BreakZhead started dragging attention of famous DJs from all over the world, Vyacheslavs music was frequently heard on different radio stations, like: DI.FM, iBreaks, KISS FM, Record FM, NuSkoolBreaks Radio, NuBreaks.com and others... With steady growth of popularity his music drove support from well-known artists of the breaks scene.

Describing BreakZheads contemporary music is not simple its a mixture of vivid acid UK Breaks with high-quality melodies, which express the newest tendencies of Russian breaks producers.

This package includes a beautiful, flowing original track from the man himself. Which includes a kick ass vocal, dirty bassline and some phat as f**K sythns!! This has seen support from all corners of the globe and is one of many great productions set for release this year from the young Russian. Big Support coming from Lady Waks on this one!

The remixes include Bristol's legendary Kingpin Head Honcho, Kraymon with an epic 9 plus minutes of sheer Broken goodness that will have you up outta your seat and thirsty for more! The use of pure broken beats and basslines in this track make it a must for all Breaks purists! It has also seen plays at Glastonbury 2009 and the mighty Glade, and has support from Far Too Loud & General Midi

Jurassik's Remix stays very true to the original but without the use of the vocal, and has a bit more a tougher edge to it than the others. This guy is all fairly new to the production scene, but doesn't dissapoint with this little ditty, that has received DJ support from Mr No Hands, Adrian Barrcode and many more.....

Not content with that, we bring you another special remix of this tune coming in the shape of Kickflip. This takes the prize for the most funked up, dirty assed Dusted Breaks Remix yet! In true Kickflip fashion, he teases and manipulates us with his use of the vocals and build ups and drops us into a floor shaking bassline frenzy, that will keep ya on ya toes for the entire duration......GUARANTEED!! This has had positive comment from pretty much every DJ/Producer and broadcaster it has reached!
